Special Containment Procedures: SCP-6473 is to be kept in a 3m x 3m x 3m room with carbon reinforced steel walls. Containtment Cell must be guarded by at least one personnel at all times. SCP-6473 has to be regularly monitored via video surveillance devices. A checkup of the Containment Cell has to be done every 2 months, preferrably by D-Class personnel. Access is only allowed with permission from Level 3 Clearance or above. SCP-6473 poses no apparent threat to The Foundation. The unstable nature of the entity must be accounted during testing.
Description: SCP-6473 is an emperor penguin thought to be of Antarctic origins. It was discovered on an iceberg which crashed into the shores of Japan. Oddly enough, the iceberg it resided on did not show any signs of melting at hot temperatures. At first glance, SCP-6473 has no physical features which differentiates it from a normal specimen.
SCP-6473 has the ability to cure any known disease by telling a joke which induces laughter in the infected. This must be caused directly by SCP-6473 for the effect to take place. Although many times the laughter is successful at curing the diseases, it is not perfect. Estimated fail rate seems to be somewhere between 2% to 3%. A failed attempt will have negative side effects which will appear soon after the induced laughter. These include: nausea, vomiting, severe migranes, flu-like symptoms, dizziness and respiratory problems. Although SCP-6473 is generally safe, most of its properties are still unknown. Tests conducted on SCP-6473's reactions have proved its instability. See Addendum-6473B.
Addendum-6473A: Several tests conclude that SCP-6473 does not need to make a decent attempt at humor to induce laughter. The subjects seem to always react the same way regardless of their sense of humor or the joke made.
Addendum-6473B: Tests on SCP-6473 by Dr.████ revealed [DATA EXPUNGED]. These events have caused the deaths of ██ personnel. Further testing has been suggested under better security measures, suggestion accepted by O5 Council.
Addendum-6473C: Another test on SCP-6473 was conducted in order to see if it could induce laughter in non-sapient organisms. These tests conclude that the laughter does not work on anything besides humans.
Something about this creature doesn't feel right. Its eyes are always staring into your soul. As if they're constantly watching you.
